Is a Big QLED TV Worth Buying in the Festive Sale? What to Check First

QLED TV: big screen TV showing a colourful picture

Festive sales are the most popular time of year to buy a new TV in India, and this year big screens are getting cheaper. New launches include 75-inch QLED models starting around ₹60,000.

But is a big QLED TV actually the right choice for your room and budget? And how does QLED compare with regular LED and OLED?

This guide explains what QLED really means, when a big screen makes sense, what to check before you buy, and how to get a fair price during the festive sales.

Quick Take

A QLED TV is a good choice if you want bright, colourful pictures in a well-lit living room at a reasonable price.

  • QLED uses quantum dots to improve brightness and colour over regular LED
  • OLED still offers deeper blacks for dark-room movie watching
  • Choose screen size by viewing distance and wall space, not just price
  • Check refresh rate, HDR support, ports and the smart platform
  • Compare the final sale price, including installation and any wall mount

What Is a QLED TV?

QLED stands for quantum dot LED. A QLED TV is an LED TV that adds a layer of tiny semiconductor particles called quantum dots. According to Samsung’s TV guide, these particles emit different colours depending on their size, which improves brightness and colour accuracy compared with conventional LED TVs.

Like regular LED TVs, QLED TVs still need a backlight. That’s the key difference from OLED.

QLED vs LED vs OLED: Which Is Right for You?

TypeStrengthsBest for
LED / LCDLowest price, widely availableTight budgets and secondary rooms
QLEDBrighter, more vivid colour than basic LEDBright living rooms and value-focused big screens
OLEDSelf-lit pixels, true blacks and excellent contrastMovie lovers watching in dark rooms

In short: a QLED TV is usually the sweet spot for bright Indian living rooms, while OLED is better for dark-room cinema. For a full breakdown, read our guide to buying a smart TV.

Is a Big QLED TV Worth It?

Big screens of 75 inches and above are becoming much more affordable. For example, Acerpure’s new Nitro QLED range launched at ₹59,999 for the 75-inch model and ₹1.9 lakh for the 100-inch model, with 120Hz refresh rates, Dolby Vision and Google TV.

A big screen makes sense if:

  • You sit far enough away; a large screen up close can feel overwhelming
  • Your wall or TV unit can physically fit it
  • You watch a lot of sport, films or games
  • Most of your content is good-quality 4K streaming

Think twice if:

  • Your room is small or you sit close to the screen
  • You mostly watch low-resolution channels, which can look soft on very large screens
  • The bigger size stretches your budget beyond comfort

Always measure your wall and viewing distance before ordering.

What to Check Before Buying a QLED TV

1. Brightness and HDR

QLED’s main advantage is brightness. Check whether the TV supports HDR formats like HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but remember that a logo alone doesn’t guarantee good HDR. Look for independent reviews.

2. Refresh rate

A 120Hz panel gives smoother motion for sport and gaming. Check whether it’s a native 120Hz panel, and look for HDMI 2.1 features if you have a modern console.

3. Smart platform

Google TV, Tizen, webOS and others differ in speed and app support. Make sure the apps you use, such as Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar, run smoothly.

4. Ports

Count your HDMI devices, such as a set-top box, console and soundbar. Check for eARC if you’ll connect a soundbar.

5. Sound

Built-in speakers have improved, but a soundbar still makes a big difference on large screens. Budget for one if sound matters. See our guide to tech accessories worth buying.

6. Warranty and installation

Check the panel warranty, whether wall-mount installation is included, and the brand’s service network in your city.

Buying a QLED TV in the Festive Sales

  • Check the TV’s recent selling price, not just the discount from MRP
  • Calculate the final price after bank offers you actually qualify for
  • Compare the same model number across Amazon, Flipkart and offline stores
  • Confirm installation charges and wall-mount costs
  • Check the seller and return or replacement policy, as large TVs can be tricky to return

Aadyanix Verdict: Should You Buy a QLED TV?

For most Indian living rooms, a QLED TV offers the best balance of brightness, colour and price, especially now that 75-inch models are falling to around ₹60,000.

Choose the size for your room, check brightness, refresh rate, ports and the smart platform, and compare the final sale price carefully. If you mostly watch films in a dark room and your budget allows, consider OLED instead.
